WARRANTY TERMS
Introduction
Three Strategically located Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge Brand Centre dealerships are
at your disposal for maintaining, servicing and repairing your vehicle throughout
South Africa. This service is backed and supported by Chrysler South Africa
(Pty) Ltd.
Repair claims in terms of this warranty can only be undertaken
and submitted by a Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge franchised dealer. Non-franchised
dealers are not equipped with the necessary high tech diagnostic and
special tools and equipment in order to perform the required levels of
service.
Your vehicle is warranted against defects and faulty workmanship
for 3 years or 100 000 km from date of sale, whichever
event occurs first.
Warranty against body corrosion is limited to body panel perforation
(edge corrosion excluded) for 3 years from date of sale.
Chrysler South Africa (Pty) Ltd. reserves the right in its sole and absolute
discretion to repair or replace such parts that it acknowledges to be defective.
Warranty for Export Vehicles
Vehicles sold in South Africa by Chrysler South Africa (Pty) Ltd.
are subject to the warranty conditions applicable to South Africa. Vehicles
exported to countries outside South Africa are warranted in accordance
with the warranty conditions applicable to that country. The warranty
terms are not transferable in the event of the vehicle being exported
to another country by any party other than Chrysler South Africa (Pty)
Ltd.
Replacement Parts Warranty
Mopar and Reman Mopar Parts fitted by a Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge franchised dealer
for in-warranty repairs are warranted for the unexpired term of The Vehicle's
Warranty.
Subject to installation by a Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge franchised dealer beyond
the Vehicle Warranty, Chrysler South Africa (Pty) Ltd. warrants Mopar genuine
replacement parts, Reman Mopar and approved accessories supplied by itself
against any defects and faulty workmanship, inclusive of labour costs, for
a period of 1 year or 20 000 km from date of fitment, whichever event occurs
first.
Mopar Parts subjected to any external damage are not warranty claimable.
Mopar Parts sold over-the-counter with the exception of electrical or electronic
components, which carry no warranty, are also warranted against defects and
faulty workmanship for a period of 12 months from date of sale, regardless
of the installation date of such parts. No labour costs or consequential
damage will be entertained.
Warranty Principles
The Warranty and any liability of Chrysler South Africa (Pty) Ltd. is subject
to the following principles:
Non-adherence to the vehicle prescribed service requirements will
negatively impact on the medium to long-term durability, safe optimum
operation of the vehicle and ultimate re-sale value.
Consequently, warranty claims on vehicles with service interval under
or over-runs are entertained on a merit basis. The vehicle needs to
be serviced strictly according to the maintenance schedule in accordance
with the Warranty Terms and Conditions above.
By time/distance limits the prescribed maintenance needs
to be done by a Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge franchised workshop within 10%
of the prescribed service interval, either way of the prescribed time
or distance, whichever event occurs first.
Warranty Exclusions
Warranty claims cannot be entertained where:
- The vehicle or part has been subjected to including but not limited
to alteration, modification, misuse, incorrect operation, abuse,
overloading of permissible gross vehicle or axle masses, incorrect
towing, transportation or maintenance, negligence, ignorance, incorrect
gear change or general damage caused by external forces.
- Following damage to the vehicle of whatever kind, whether mechanical,
electrical, electronic or body related, as a result of collision
or accident, unless a Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge franchised dealer or Chrysler
South Africa (Pty) Ltd.. approved autobody repair shop repairs such
damage.
- Non Genuine Mopar replacement parts or approved accessories have
been fitted.
- The vehicle or any component /part has been modified, altered,
adapted for or participated in a speed, endurance, durability, competition,
race or rally practice.
- The vehicle or component/part has not been maintained or serviced
by a franchised Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge Dealer, as prescribed.
- The improper use of service products such as fuel blend/type/
octane or viscosity rating, hydraulic or lubricating oil, brake fluids,
coolant or preserving agents or their replacement including flushing
intervals in the engine, gearbox, transmission was not adhered to.
- The vehicle has suffered damage arising from water ingress whilst
in the process of crossing or negotiating any water hazard.
Specifically excluded from the warranty are:
- Globes, bulbs and fuses, aiming of headlights and battery maintenance.
- Filters and desiccant cartridges.
- Lubrication and oil changes.
- Checking of fluid levels.
- Valve adjustment.
- Tyres, Balancing and rotation of wheels or tyre pressure checks.
- Loss of income or profit.
- Road testing and functional checks.
- Electronic parts if not installed by a Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge franchised
dealer or Chrysler South Africa (Pty) Ltd. approved autobody repair
shop.
- Costs for sundries (silicone sealer, penetrating solvents, cleaning
agents and cleaning materials etc.)
- Glass and plastic lenses, including chips and scratches (excluding
latent defects or melting).
- Windscreen and rear window pressure cracks after 3 months from
the vehicles date of sale, or within 5,000 km whichever event shall
occur first.
- Any consequential damage arising as a result of a warranty claim,
including but not limited to:
- Damage or Injury to persons or property.
- Towing or recovery costs.
- Loss of Vehicle Use.
- Transport and travel expenses (e.g. vehicle rental, rail/bus,
air/ ship).
- Hotel / accommodation.
- Telephone/fax/communication expenses.
- Heater hoses, vent ducts and other hoses (manufacturing defects
excluded).
Items Not Covered Under Warranty
The vehicle or component / part has been subjected to a hazardous or
corrosive environment (viz. industrial fallout, airborne corrosive particles,
driving on beaches, salt laden or unsurfaced roads, excessive salt laden
environment, or stored and / or parked in bright sunlight, under trees
or vegetation that may give rise to staining, paint damage arising from
bird droppings or hailstorms, earthquakes, flood damage, or such other
damage arising from any act of nature). Vehicles parked in coastal areas
require frequent hosing down to remove environmental sea salt spray.
- Paint or trim damage arising from the use of any cleaning agent, solvent
or material not approved by Chrysler South Africa (Pty) Ltd..
- Door alignment, after 3 months from date of sale / commissioning of vehicle
or after 6 000 km whichever event shall occur first.
- Cleaning, aiming or adjustment of washer nozzles.
- Checking and diagnosis in general is not covered unless a Chrysler /
Jeep diagnostic machine capable of printing a report can
check the fault and such report is attached to the job card for audit purposes.
- Checking of fuel mix adjustments, including contamination orconsequential
contamination due to cleaning.
- Brake, clutch or fan belt adjustments.
- Drive train / running gear alignment.
- All friction materials and friction contact surfaces.
- Tightening of screws, bolts, nuts, clamps are excluded after 3 months
from the vehicle's date of sale, or within the first 5 000 km whichever
event occurs first.
- Fasteners including, but not limited to; Clips, Clasps, Clamps, Screws,
Bolts, Nuts, Washers and similar hardware are not covered against corrosion
or rust.
- Contamination, normal wear and tear, including but not limited to;
- Air, oil or fuel filters.
- Flywheels, Pressure plate, Clutch and Brake discs
- Spark plugs, Injectors.
- Damage / perishing of windscreen wiper blades, coolant, heating.
*Fair wear and tear relates to an anticipated natural wearing, scuffing,
abrasion, friction or exposure to a natural non-corrosive environment. This
is relative to the design and intended market application for the vehicle
in question. Any change in the quality or condition of paint, trim, component
or part through intended normal use or service is classified as wear and
tear.
The taking of reasonable protective and preventative measures such as doing
prescribed servicing and maintenance, parking in a covered garage, regular
washing and polishing of the vehicles exterior, limiting exposure to dirt
or hazardous road surfaces, or subjecting of the vehicle to excessive loads,
engine / road speeds, clutch riding, gear changes, braking, driving beyond
the intended design limits of the vehicle, etc., are pre-conditional to preventing
any failure or damage as a result of wear and tear.
Specifically excluded is any form of damage to paint or surface as
a result of any natural phenomenon such as hail, industrial fall-out,
stone chips, dents, scratches, or paint damage from an external source.
Chrysler South Africa (Pty) Ltd. is not liable for any cost of servicing
and routine maintenance, replacement of consumable parts, friction
materials, glass, tyres or any component that may be subjected to normal
fair wear and tear. |
